Where can I find a list of compatible OS’s for an older Acer One Aspire model ZG5 currently running Windows XP. Trying to get away from Windows.  Most of this on here is over my head, so please answer in a way a dumb person can understand.

Hi Sherrileskimball,

You should be able to run any Linux distribution of your choice on your old laptop. But you should use LXDE, XFCE or MATE desktop environment for better user experience.

You can try the following Linux distros:

- Lubuntu 20.04 LTS (https://lubuntu.me/)

- Ubuntu MATE 20.04 LTS (https://ubuntu-mate.org/)

- Xubuntu 20.04 LTS (https://xubuntu.org/)

- LinuxMint 20 (MATE version) (https://linuxmint.com/download.php)

- LinuxMint 20 (XFCE version) (https://linuxmint.com/download.php)

- Debian 10 XFCE (https://www.debian.org/CD/live/)

- Debian 10 LXDE (https://www.debian.org/CD/live/)

- Debian 10 LXQT (https://www.debian.org/CD/live/)

- Manjaro XFCE (https://manjaro.org/download/)

- Fedora XFCE Spin (https://spins.fedoraproject.org/)

- Fedora LXDE Spin (https://spins.fedoraproject.org/)

- Fedora LXQT Spin (https://spins.fedoraproject.org/)

- Fedora Mate-compiz Spin (https://spins.fedoraproject.org/)

If you want my suggestion on which one to try first, then get started with LinuxMint 20 MATE/XFCE version or Lubuntu 20.04 LTS.

I hope this helps. I wish you all the best.

Shovon
