No Sound on Linux Mint 20 after fresh install.

Question

     I had Linux Mint 19 and loved it. then something happened to it. I reinstalled it.  Sound worked for a bit but stopped working after fiddling with the commands (bad me). Then the new Mint 20 came out. I did a fresh install of it. Now I have no sound still. The sound worked on the LIVE version before I installed it??  I am a fresh newbie and know nothing about commands in the terminal.  I need a step by step instructions on how to find and install my sound driver or card. That includes the details of what to type concerning everything.  It's all Greek to me. lol

  Help!!

    Thanks!

Hi bhermance,
Install pavucontrol and try to change your default sound output device from pavucontrol.

Update the APT package repository cache with the following command:

$ sudo apt update

Install pavucontrol with the following command:

$ sudo apt install pavucontrol

Open PulseAudio Volume Control from LinuxMint menu.

Try tweaking some of the Output Device and Playback settings and see if it works.

I hope this will help. Good luck.
