Question

Dear Shahriar Shovon,

You have post a article that "Configuring PXE Network Boot Server on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS" but in this post you have booting the pxe using nfs server, Can you please tell how to to boot pxe server using http or ftp instead of nfs server.

Hi Abhi,

You can only PXE boot Ubuntu from NFS and CIFS (Samba/Windows shares) server. You can't configure HTTP or FTP here because Ubuntu uses casper initramfs hooks. casper does not support anything other than NFS and CIFS.

Well, technically anything is possible. If you know Linux very well, you may be able to make a custom initramfs and modify casper to accept HTTP/FTP traffic. But that's a lot of work for such as simple task.
