Hi,

Do you already have the custom RHEL 8 iso image?

Note that, RHEL 8 does not recommend making custom ISO images.

The recommended way to do it on RHEL 8:

1) Create a kickstart file ks.cfg according to your requirement

2) Setup a HTTP server

3) Copy the ks.cfg file to the document root of your HTTP server.

4) Make sure the HTTP server is accessible from all the new RHEL 8 VMs you will create in future.

4) Boot original RHEL 8 image on your VM with the kernel parameter inst.ks=http://<http-server-ip>/ks.cfg

5) RHEL 8 installer will configure the installation depending on the ks.cfg configuration file.

I hope this helps.

Dear Shovon ,

I don't have any custom RHEL 8 iso image.

Have question like :

Any HTTP/Web server i can use ? will be any security issue after using HTTP server ?

All VMs we manage in vsphere client.. So this can also be managed ? As i was thinking for Goldmaster image we create template so that if any other user wants to deploy machine so directly he can use that template & deploy his machine by his own.

Things are little clear but if you have any video or recording to build GM RHEL 8 so it will be more clear.

Thanks.

Abhishek

Yes, you can use any HTTP/Web server. Even, locally installed one as well.

You can create a master VM using kickstart file and clone the VM as you like in vSphere.

You can also run a private HTTP/web server in vSphere and let your clients access the ks.cfg kickstart file from the HTTP server. Then, they can deploy the VM themselve using the standard RHEL 8 image.

Sorry, I don't have/know any video tutorial on this topic.
